The motive behind the attack appears to stem from their recent breakup after a two-year relationship. The attack caught on video depicts the victim lying motionless on the road following the assault as the assailant asks her, "Kyun kiya aisa mere saath" (Why did you do this to me?). The assailant then proceeded to hit her again before throwing away the spanner in anger while the victim lay in a pool of blood.
