Vimalraj, a resident of Periyapurangani village near Neyveli in Cuddalore district, along with his friends participated in a kabaddi tournament at Manatik Kuppam under Muthandikuppam police station area. Last night when the match was going on briskly, Vimal Raj suddenly fainted while going right to the opponent and touching the boundary line. Shocked by this, his friends and the match referee rushed him to the hospital. But the doctors who examined him at the hospital declared him dead. Currently, his body has been kept at Mundiambakkam Government Medical College Hospital, Villupuram district for post-mortem.
