At least 11 people were killed on Tuesday when a fuel truck exploded near a highway in Uganda, police reported. Among the victims were two children. The truck had overturned following an accident and subsequently exploded in a town outside Kampala, the capital, according to police spokesperson Patrick Onyango."The victims were burned beyond recognition," Onyango stated, describing the incident, which sent plumes of black smoke rising into the air. A video shared online by a bystander showed people siphoning fuel from the truck before it ignited.Despite warnings to stay away, individuals rushed to collect fuel from the overturned truck, likely intending to sell it. Onyango emphasized the dangers associated with such accidents, calling them a reminder of the risks of handling hazardous materials carelessly.
