Video recorded by motorists show a smoking Range Rover ramming undercover NJSP vehicles in a mad attempt at escape after the driver was surrounded by detectives in the local lanes at the split for the bridge's upper and lower levels in Fort Lee around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7.The driver at one point begins reversing the severely damaged Range Rover after it exchanges blows with undercover police vehicles.A detective in a State Police vest stands in the middle of the road, points his gun with both hands as another is heard repeatedly shouting "Get out of the car!"The vehicle vanishes from the camera's view.Seconds later, two loud pops are heard. Motorists caught in the jam said they sounded like gunshots. Where they came from couldn't be determined.The Range Rover slowly rolls forward, back into the frame, its back window shattered. It appears as if a front-seat passenger is reaching for the steering wheel.Detectives in separate pickups unite into a dovetail, ramming and stopping the vehicle with their trucks.Other detectives rush the Range Rover, pull out two occupants and place them on the ground.
