The victim was identified as Brayan Estiven Vargas, whose whereabouts had been unknown for several days. According to initial reports from authorities, local farmers alerted them to the presence of the sacks in the middle of the sugarcane field, prompting the arrival of uniformed officers and forensic units from the police.

In fact, as reported by journalists from northern Cauca, the victim's family reported the young man's disappearance since Tuesday, May 19, when several people noticed him leaving a chicken rotisserie in the municipality of Puerto Tejada, Cauca.

During the preliminary inspection, investigators confirmed that the body was dismembered and in an advanced state of decomposition, a fact that initially made it difficult to fully establish the victim's identity.

The young man's body will be transferred to the Legal Medicine facilities, where the corresponding forensic procedures will be carried out to determine details about his death.

So far, authorities have not released official information about possible suspects or hypotheses regarding the homicide. However, judicial agencies are pursuing several lines of investigation to determine if the case is related to disputes between criminal organizations operating in this area of ​​the department.
