A 32-year-old man surnamed Zhu was found to have fallen from the rooftop of Weigong Memorial Hospital in Toufen City, Miaoli County, on the evening of the 20th. He had been wandering the hospital rooftop for an hour without explanation. Police and firefighters arrived and deployed an air cushion and ladder truck, but Zhu suddenly fell, crashing through a second-floor awning and landing heavily on the ground. He immediately stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead. The hospital responded that Zhu was not a patient at Weigong Hospital, and there was no record of a suicide report. The hospital also stated that the rooftop has access control and management mechanisms, and the hospital will fully cooperate with the investigation.

The Miaoli County Fire Department stated that at 6:28 p.m. on the 20th, they received a report from a member of the public that someone on the top floor of the hospital appeared to be emotionally unstable and was pacing back and forth at a high altitude. Firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene at 6:37 p.m., laid out an air cushion on the ground floor, and deployed a ladder truck to stand by. The police contacted the family members to come to the scene to assist in comforting them.

Unexpectedly, at around 7:50 p.m., Mr. Zhu fell from a height, crashing through a second-floor awning and its frame before landing heavily on the ground, showing no signs of life at the scene. Paramedics immediately rushed to his aid and transported him to the hospital, but Mr. Zhu ultimately succumbed to his injuries that evening.

In response, the hospital issued a statement saying that the incident occurred during the evening outpatient hours. The hospital immediately cooperated with the fire department and police to activate the emergency response mechanism and safety maintenance measures. Police and fire personnel arrived at the scene to handle the situation and carry out subsequent related work. At the same time, the family members were notified to come to the scene to assist in the handling. However, the tragedy still occurred.
