At least 14 people died during a confrontation between alleged criminals and civilians in the municipality of Texcaltitlán, State of Mexico.

According to a statement from the Mexican Security Secretariat, 11 of the victims were allegedly linked to criminal activities, while the other 3 were neighbors of the community.

First, the Secretariat reported 11 deaths due to the violent event, but later updated the number to 14 deaths. He also reported four people injured by a firearm projectile and two more missing.

Videos were spread on social networks that documented the moment of the clash between the alleged criminals and the residents of the community.

In the images, men are seen with sticks and possible machetes in hand, as well as others with short and long weapons that they even activate, since detonations can also be perceived.

Some national media claim that the alleged criminals were members of the La Familia Michoacana criminal group.

Likewise, in another video, bodies are seen on the floor and even one of them burned to the side of a car that was also consumed by the flames.

The SS of Edomex reported that it carried out a wide deployment in coordination with the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), National Guard (GN) and the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico, which allowed progress in the compilation of more information; However, he pointed out that what was reported until Friday night is preliminary data.

Elements of the Mexican agency are providing support in the area in order to maintain control after the emergency.
