Video shows the moment a 28-year-old man fatally shot himself in the chest while his cousin unknowingly recorded the incident in India.

Authorities said the victim, identified as Pawan Kumar, was handling a pistol while being filmed at a residence when the shooting occurred.

The footage shows Kumar inserting a magazine into the weapon as the person recording speaks to him, apparently unaware of what was about to happen. Moments later, Kumar cocks the gun, places it against the left side of his chest, looks toward the camera, and pulls the trigger.

He collapses immediately as the person filming reacts in shock.

Police said the incident happened on March 16. Kumar was rushed to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators believe the shooting was self-inflicted using a licensed pistol belonging to his cousin, who recorded the video. The firearm and ammunition have been seized.

Authorities have also taken possession of the phone used to record the footage and are reviewing all evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
