Two people were arrested Wednesday after a report of shoplifting ended with the suspects slamming their car into police cruisers as they tried to evade officers, according to police.

Nelson Vidro, 45, of Torrington man, and Nadine Inorio, 38, of West Haven, both are facing charged in connection with the incident, East Haven police Capt. Joseph Murgo said in a news release.

Murgo said officers were called at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday for a reported shoplifting at the Snipes shoe store on Foxon Road. Responding units were provided a descriptions of the suspects and the vehicle in which they fled, police said.
