4 anglesA man was fatally shot by officers outside of Music Hall in Over-the-Rhine Thursday night, Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Theetge told the media during a conference.The shooting prompted the city of Cincinnati to tweet that an "emergency" was occurring near Music Hall at 7:21 p.m. Police closed a portion of Elm Street as a result.Police have not released the identity of the man who was killed. He was the suspect in a stabbing incident in District 3, which serves Cincinnati's West Side neighborhoods, Theetge said.Police received a description of the suspect's vehicle earlier Thursday and followed him from District 3 to Elm Street in front of Music Hall, where the opera "La Traviata" was starting its opening night.The suspect exited his vehicle and pulled out a gun, Theetge said. Police told the suspect to put down his firearm. When he did not, police shot at him.A witness, FD Harper, was on his way to a bluegrass concert in Over-the-Rhine when he saw the shooting unfold. He shared a video with The Enquirer that shows the police telling the suspect to "drop the gun." It is unclear from the video whether he dropped the gun before an officer shot him, which is followed by several gunshots.Theetge said she did not know how many officers shot at the individual. Witnesses reported hearing at least five gunshots.The suspect's car sat for hours on Elm Street just south of Music Hall with two flat tires, an Enquirer reporter said.Police are on the scene after responding to a shooting, Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Music Hall in Cincinnati.The victim of the stabbing incident, who has not been named, remains in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Theetge said.The stabbing incident was domestic-related, Theetge said, but that the relationship between the suspect and the victim is currently unclear.
