A driver of a Sprinter van, which makes the Garanhuns-Caruaru line, died after being run over by his own vehicle in the early morning of this Saturday, April 16, on Rua 13 de Maio, in the center of Garanhuns.

The man, identified as Luiz Mendonça da Silva, known as Rivelino, stopped the vehicle to have coffee at a cafeteria on Santos Dumont Street, but realized that the van was getting out of control. At that moment, in an act of desperation, Rivelino tried to stop the car but was run over by the vehicle itself and died on the spot. The car only stopped when it collided with the wall of a store.
