A shooting left a military officer and 2 robbers dead on Sunday morning at Feira da Liberdade in São Luís, according to information from the Military Police. The soldier was Clenildo Souza Gomes, a member of the Tactical Mobile Group (GTM) of the 1st Battalion of the PM, and the suspects identified only as Caíque and Acerola.

According to the PM, Clenildo was on vacation and was moonlighting as security at the fair. He was working in a butcher shop when the two men came to rob the place. Upon realizing the presence of the police, the suspects started shooting at him, he was hit but managed to shoot back, killing Caíque and Acerola.

The suspects died at the scene. Police said they were part of a criminal group of St. Louis. The soldier succumbed to his injuries and died on the way to City Hospital Emergency Department Clementino Moura, the Socorrão II.
