A man was arrested on Monday (March 10) after assaulting his wife inside a convenience store on Alameda Barão de Limeira, in Campos Elíseos, central São Paulo.

A friend of the woman and a store employee tried to intervene but were also attacked.

Security footage from the store shows the man entering angrily and repeatedly hitting his wife, who was wearing a cream-colored dress. She tried to defend herself but was struck multiple times in the head, eventually collapsing to the floor.

Her friend, dressed in a black top and red skirt, attempted to stop the attack but was grabbed by the hair. A store employee also tried to calm the attacker but was pushed away.

Unable to contain the man, the store owner ran outside and alerted a nearby Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) patrol stationed at Praça Júlio de Mesquita, just in front of the store.

When officers arrived, the husband attempted to flee, but security guards outside the store blocked his escape.

He was arrested at the scene and taken to the 1st Women's Defense Police Station (DDM), where he was handed over to the Department of Justice.
