Strongman athlete Dan Jones suffered one of the uglier injuries you'll see in competition.Just seconds away from the finish line in the one of Southport's final events, which included carrying two 80 kg weights in each hand, Jones suffered a freak accident that caused him to rupture both patellar tendons — "sending his kneecaps shooting up into his quads."The 29-year-old reportedly had to undergo a five-hour operation to fuse the tendons back together and has spent nearly a month in the hospital recovering.Luckily, it sounds like Jones is starting to move normally again. But the injury was harrowing experience."I was going into the last event in second place," the UK IT specialist recalled. "... The guy that I was racing against was in first place at the time so I was having to beat him, which is why I was going as fast as I could. It was a freak accident, we're still not 100 percent sure how it happened."
