“Naugatuck officers responded to the park located on Mill Street,” the inspector general’s office said. “Upon arrival, they observed Kyle O’Creene near a picnic table holding a knife.”It said O’Creene stood up and advanced on officers with the knife. He ignored multiple commands to drop the knife.“Officers initially attempted to subdue O’Creene using a Taser, but the Taser deployment was unsuccessful,” it said. “When O’Creene continued to advance on the Naugatuck officers still holding the knife, Officer Crystal Hudson and Officer Joseph Palhete discharged their handguns, striking and wounding O’Creene.”Officers on scene immediately provided medical aid to O’Creene who was taken to Waterbury Hospital for treatment.He remained at the hospital on Monday in stable condition.
