STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A man armed with a black rifle pointed it behind the counter of a Rossville convenience store and demanded money from the register, according to dramatic video provided to the Advance/SILive.com.The harrowing incident occurred Saturday, July 8, 2023, at around 11:01 p.m. at Veterans Convenience, located near the West Shore Expressway, according to a spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.“Empty the register, empty it, quick,” said the man, who is white and was wearing orange gloves and a blue mask during the robbery.Within seconds, the cashier begins to put bills on the counter while the rifle is poised just feet away.“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you ... you got a family? Don’t worry,” the man can be heard saying on the surveillance video while picking up the cash. “This is going back to the community.”As he leaves, the man points the rifle over his shoulder and says, “have a good f------ night.”No injuries were reported, said police. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
