The officer was outside of his car assisting a driver that had slid off of the roadway when another driver lost control. The 18-year-old slammed into the officer's car and then hit the disabled vehicle.

The officer, who was almost crushed between the two cars, was hit and thrown into the ditch. He was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
