The incident occurred Friday morning around 6:45 a.m. in the 13000 block of Pearblossom Highway. Authorities say they received a call about reports of a man with a knife committed an assault at a local business, and was making threats to others.

When deputies arrived, they saw the suspect — described as a white male in his 30s — outside the business. The LASD said when they made contact with the man, he lunged at them with a sharp object in his hand, and that deputies responded by shooting the suspect.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
