COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A man is dead after being shot by two Columbus police officers who were responding to a domestic violence call just down the road from Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Police arrived at the 800 block of Wilson Avenue approximately five minutes after the domestic violence call came in. According to a statement and body-cam video released by CPD, officers were approaching an apartment building when they heard shots being fired.

Seconds later, a man later identified as 33-year-old Isawan Foster emerged from the building with a gun, firing shots toward the entryway, police said. The officers responded by shooting and killing Foster. The officers rendered aid at the scene and Foster was rushed to Grant Medical Center, where he died just after 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Another man, 32-year-old Brandon Wade, was taken into custody at the scene and was charged with domestic violence and assault.

The Columbus Division of Police is unable to release the identities of the officers involved; however, they have made public their years of service. One officer has been on the CPD force for six years and another for two years. Neither was injured in the confrontation.
