Man of Uttar Pradesh's Meerut was assaulted and urinated in the face by a group of young men, the police said on Sunday. The attack was caught on camera and was shared online.

One of the videos shows a person beating up a student in a deserted place while two other accomplices remain onlookers and record videos. The man repeatedly attacked the student on his head and his back as he pleaded to stop the assault.

Another video shows a second person urinating on the man's face.

Four of them have been identified as Avi Sharma, Ashish Malik, Rajan, and Mohit Thakur and others are unknown. Police arrested three of them for being involved in the attack, which took place on November 13.

Section 294, which pertains to committing obscenities in public places, has been added to the charges for humiliating acts, said Meerut SP Piyush Singh.

"One young man was attacked and urinated upon, and based on his father's complaint, we have registered a complaint and arrested one person. Further investigation is underway," Piyush Singh said.

The victim's father said the student was kidnapped by the group while he was coming back from his relative's house in the city. He was then taken to a deserted area nearby and was attacked.

Since the student did not come back, his family launched a search for him throughout the night, and by the next morning, he reached home and narrated the incident.

Subsequently, the family approached the police to file a complaint. However, the father alleged that no action was taken initially. They went again on November 16, and the case was registered on that day. The family also alleged that the case was registered with lighter IPC sections, avoiding kidnapping charges.

It is said that some of the attackers were friends of the victim, but the family said that there was no known dispute between them.

The accused have been charged under provisions for rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace, and criminal intimidation.
