moment a UHP trooper was hit in Weber County, not long after he pulled over to the side of I-15 in West Haven to remove debris.

Everyone involved in the crash was okay.

Trooper Hunter Wirth is back at work, after having some minor injuries to his neck and arms.

Wirth was parked on the shoulder with the lights of his patrol car activated when a driver swerved to avoid the plywood, hitting Wirth's car, officials said.

"I think everyone involved was pretty lucky," he said. "I do think about what could have happened, if I was outside of my vehicle."

He remembers sitting there on the side of the highway with his emergency lights on when a vehicle swerved. The impact lead to a multi-vehicle accident.

"The other car did not go back into the lane of travel and eventually rear-ended my vehicle, which pushed me into the highway," Wirth said. "I definitely felt the damage later."
