The FBI has joined the investigation of the deadly Clarke County traffic crash that left two people dead and four injured, because the driver accused of hitting four vehicles in Thomasville is not from the United States.

Mobile’s FBI unit was called to the crash on Tuesday because Thomasville police did not have a Russian translator to speak to Andrii Dmyterko, the Pennsylvania man who allegedly drove the semi truck involved in the crash.

“They’re going to pay,” Thomasville Police Chief Mitchell Stuckey said. “We can’t make the loved ones lost yesterday come back, but we certainly make the one responsible pay.”

The crash killed 37-year-old Ashley Marie Springer McDonald. According to police, she was a single mom of two and an employee at a local fast food restaurant.

Wilcox County football coach Woodie Beck also died in the crash.

“All they did was stop at a red light … it could’ve happened to anybody,” Stuckey said.

Video shows no sign of Dmyterko using his brakes as he struck four vehicles from behind that were stopped for a red light in the southbound lane of Highway 43 at the intersection of South Industrial Park Drive in Thomasville.
