An argument between two men ended in arrest and death in the city of Londrina, in northern Paraná. David Schmidt Prado, 37, was stabbed to death by Lucas Wancler Ferreira dos Santos, 30, following an argument that began in the parking lot of a gym on Faria Lima Avenue, in the city's south zone, early Monday evening, the 5th. The entire sequence of events was captured on security camera footage.

According to witnesses, the victim left the gym after finishing his workout and went to his car in the adjacent parking lot, where he encountered Santos. The two allegedly argued because Prado was reportedly in a relationship with the aggressor's ex-girlfriend. Security camera footage shows that he managed to stab the victim a few times while still in the parking lot.

Prado returned to the gym and entered screaming for help. Wounded, he asked the receptionists to call the Military Police. Santos followed him and, moments later, jumped the gym's turnstile and managed to land another stab wound to the victim's abdomen as he ran toward the back of the gym, where both were members.

The aggressor was stopped after being placed under arrest by a military police officer who was working out inside the establishment. Upon witnessing the crime, the officer drew his weapon and pointed it at the aggressor, who raised his hands and dropped the knife. The officer kept Santos immobilized until patrol cars and SAMU [emergency medical services] arrived.

Prado succumbed to his injuries and died inside the gym. He reportedly suffered at least five stab wounds and lost a significant amount of blood. His body will be examined by the Legal Medical Institute (IML), which will precisely determine the injuries sustained. Santos was arrested in the act and charged with homicide. During his interrogation, he remained silent. The report is seeking contact with his defense, but as of the publication of this article, he did not have a lawyer. Space remains open for a statement.

The gym where the crime occurred released a statement in solidarity with the victim's family and suspended operations this Tuesday, the 6th. "The gym clarifies that it had no participation in or responsibility for what occurred. As soon as it became aware of the situation, all appropriate measures were taken. (...) We express our respect to the family, friends, and everyone involved, and we thank the prompt intervention of a police officer who was at the scene," reads an excerpt from the statement.
