Yuba City, California — On February 26, 2026, shortly after 9 a.m. a 911 caller reported a nude man behaving erratically in the street and forcing his way into a home in a residential neighborhood of Yuba City. Video shows the suspect sprinting between houses, colliding with a front door, and later lying on the ground before suddenly resisting as Yuba City Police Officers attempted to detain him. Investigators say repeated attempts to subdue him with less-lethal tools failed as he broke free and ran into a nearby yard. Police say the confrontation escalated when the man, identified as 31-year-old Guillermo Figueroa, armed himself with a shovel and swung it toward officers, prompting one officer to open fire. Footage captures the moments after the shots, with officers struggling to restrain him while simultaneously calling for medical aid. Figueroa was transported to a hospital in the Sacramento area, where he remains in critical but stable condition, officials said. Minor injuries were also reported among those involved in the earlier disturbance and the responding officers.
