ASHLAND COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations has launched an investigation after Ashland County Sheriff’s Deputies fatally shot a 63-year-old man.

Ashland County Chief Deputy David Blake confirmed the shooting happened at 7:56 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of U.S. Route 250 in Rowsburg.

Blake said deputies were at the home to respond to a call of a man with suicidal tendencies.

Blake confirmed the 63-year-old man threw his cellphone on the ground as deputies attempted to talk with him.

The deputies fired their service weapons after the man begun to confront them with deadly force, Blake confirmed.

The 63-year-old died at the scene from his injuries, but no deputies were injured.
