It's called the "Austrian" pole hanging... it's a hanging with a slight fall, and the fall usually strangles the man rather than breaks his neck, so it takes two hangmen... one to assist the fall by putting his foot through the noose on the prisoner's leg, creating the necessary force, and the other to break his neck.
