Manaus – The peaceful routine of residents in the Colônia Oliveira Machado neighborhood, in the South Zone of Manaus, was interrupted last Sunday (January 4th) by a case of sexual harassment that ended in violence. A man, described by neighbors as a "perverted old man," was the target of a severe punishment applied by members of the community after being accused of exposing his private parts to women in the neighborhood

According to victim accounts, the man took advantage of bathing time in his backyard to commit the acts. Because the property's wall is low, he was intentionally visible to neighboring houses. The complaints indicate that the perpetrator not only exposed himself but also manipulated his genitals while staring at teenage girls, young women, older women, and married women in the area. Tired of the disrespect and the feeling of insecurity, the residents decided not to remain silent and brought the case to the attention of criminal groups operating in the region.

The response came in a violent form through what is popularly known as a "crime tribunal." The man was approached and subjected to a beating session as a form of "correction."

Images circulating in messaging groups show the moment of the punishment. The man received several blows, known as "bolachas" (slaps), using a wooden log. The focus of the aggression was the individual's arms and hands, who screamed while the perpetrators stated that the action served as an example so that the crime of harassment would not be repeated in the neighborhood. The case reflects a common phenomenon in areas where public safety is perceived as insufficient, leading residents to resort to alternative means to resolve conflicts and sexual crimes. As of the time of publication, there were no records indicating that the man had sought medical attention at health facilities in the capital or filed a formal complaint about the assaults.
