A criminal robbed a tobacco shop in Nervión with a knife last Wednesday evening. The thief threatened the employee inside the premises on several occasions, who confronted him with a broom. The robber was barefaced and without gloves, and even cut himself and left traces of blood in the store. He managed to take around 2,000 euros after threatening the shop assistant. The robbery occurred around twenty minutes past nine on the night of Wednesday, May 8, in a tobacco shop located on Luis Montoto Street, next to the Burro&Canaglia restaurant and a few meters from the Santa Isabel clinic. There were only ten minutes left until the store's closing time. The employee was at that moment sweeping the front part of the tobacconist's shop, when the criminal entered, knife in hand, and approached her, tackling her from behind. The woman reacted by putting the broom in front of her and trying to confront the thief, who increased her aggressiveness and forced her to get behind the counter and open the cash register. For a moment, she gestures towards the street, so that some passer-by may try to realize the danger they are in. Nobody does anything, except for a couple who stops for a moment and takes a look inside, without realizing that it is a robbery and that the worker's life is at risk. The suspect tries to lower the security shutter of the tobacconist so that no one can see what is happening inside, but he fails.Throughout the sequence, the criminal addresses the young woman with death threats and reiterates several times that he is going to kill her. He thus forces her to open the box and takes part of the money that was inside it, an amount that is around 2,000 euros. The robber tried to get the young woman to go to the back room, but she refused and stayed next to the cash register. Many bills end up on the ground. The person in charge of the business indicated that the worker feared that the criminal would attack her inside, where she no longer had the possibility of escape nor would anyone see her from the street, and therefore no one could help her. Once the robbery was committed, and even though the criminal told the employee that he had a friend outside waiting for him, the thief left alone on foot, in the direction of the Santa Isabel clinic. He then turned onto Maese Farfán, the first street on the left. There he already lost track. The National Police quickly responded to the tobacconist's call, while the owner of the business provided the videos, in which the suspect's face can be clearly seen, who was wearing a cap and sunglasses on top of it, without covering it. nothing. He speaks with a Sevillian accent. The Police are now working on identifying the criminal. Due to his appearance and way of acting, one of the hypotheses being used is that he is a man who has recently been released from prison and has stolen again. "I saw him forty minutes before the robbery, he was already there next door," says the tobacconist's owner. The thief waited until the young woman was alone in the store and acted around closing time. The owner of the business left the business just two minutes before the robbery and saw the thief again, without him still being able to imagine that he was going to later enter the establishment armed with a knife. "Later I was looking for him in the Santo Domingo de la Calzada park and in the Metro station and surrounding areas, but I didn't see him." The tobacconist had previously suffered numerous thefts, but not an armed robbery of this type. The investigation of this robbery has fallen to the Nervión police station, after the first intervention was from the new group that the National Police has created to combat robberies and thefts, the callsigns Ares. At the moment, they are working intensively on the identification of the suspect, of whom they already have his image and samples of his blood and fingerprints have been collected to try to identify him in the next few hours.
