A 25-year-old woman armed with a knife was shot by police late Wednesday in Koreatown.

The shooting was reported around 11 p.m. after Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 300 block of Kenmore Avenue. Officers opened fire when they saw the woman attacking a man, police said.

The woman was hospitalized with gunshot wounds and is expected to survive.

The victim suffered cuts that were treated at the scene. The knife was recovered at the scene.

It was not immediately clear whether the woman and man knew each other.

No officers were injured.
