- Last Monday night, two members of the National Police lost their lives in a traffic accident on the Pan-American Highway, in the El Guayabo sector of the municipality of Nacaome, Valle, southern Honduras.

The victims were identified as Assistant Inspector Goldye Azzaria Burke Arévalo and Officer Melvin Eduardo Cruz Ordóñez, who crashed into a vehicle that fled the scene without providing assistance.

The officers were heading towards San Lorenzo when the collision occurred with the vehicle, known as the "ghost" vehicle, because it had not stopped after the incident.

In a message on social media, the National Police expressed its condolences: "We deeply regret the death of our colleagues, Sub-Inspector Goldye Azzaria Burke Arévalo and Officer Melvin Eduardo Cruz Ordóñez, who died in a traffic accident."
