One of the riders died on the roadway, and his partner was transported to a medical center with serious injuries.

A fatal accident occurred this Monday afternoon, January 19, at kilometer 283 of the Atlantic Highway, at the junction to the village of Entre Ríos, in Puerto Barrios, Izabal.

Security cameras captured the exact moment of the traffic accident involving a couple riding a two-wheeled vehicle, who collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.

The footage shows a car exiting the intersection hastily; the driver of the two-wheeled vehicle attempts to swerve to avoid colliding with the car but loses control.

As a result, he veered into the lane where the heavy transport vehicle was traveling; the truck was unable to brake in time and struck both riders, killing one of them.

The deceased was identified as Marco Antonio Dublín, a native and resident of Morales, who was traveling with his wife; she was transported to the Puerto Barrios National Hospital with serious injuries.

From another angle, the riders can be seen being ejected, their bodies landing on the pavement, while other people run for safety and the trailer, having lost control, subsequently collides with another parked vehicle.
