Investigators have opened a criminal case against the driver of a foreign car who fatally struck a motorcyclist in Mariinsk. Kuzbass police released full details of the accident on Friday, June 19.

It has been preliminarily established that on the evening of June 17 at around 10:00 pm on the central street of Mariinsk, a 58-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Volt was leaving an adjacent area and did not yield to a Tezza moped that was driving straight ahead.

The 29-year-old moped driver died on the spot as a result of the impact, and his 26-year-old female passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The driver faces up to 5 years in prison for violating traffic rules, resulting in death.
