Journalist Edgar José Garay Álvarez, director of the digital media outlet Notisincelejo, was murdered on Tuesday, December 3, around 8:00 p.m., while driving on the road that connects the municipality of Corozal with Las Brujas Airport. Gunmen repeatedly shot at his vehicle, causing it to leave the road and end up under a bridge in the area known as El Reposo.

According to the authorities, led by the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) of the Attorney General's Office, Garay was shot in the head, causing instant death. So far, they have not determined whether the attack is related to his journalistic work, his political activity or personal reasons
