A young man was seriously injured after being stabbed early Sunday morning on Arenal beach in Xàbia . The incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. during a fight, the cause of which is under investigation.

The victim said that she "did not know her attacker" and asked for help from people in the area to notify the police.

According to initial reports, the alleged assailant used a sharp object and stabbed the victim several times . At least one of the wounds was located in the chest area , near the shoulder.

Local police from Xàbia , the Civil Guard , and paramedics were dispatched to the scene . After receiving initial treatment at the scene, the injured person was rushed to the hospital .

The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to clarify what happened and identify the perpetrator of the attack , whose whereabouts are unknown.
