One of the most high-profile incidents occurred on July 26 in the city of Wrocław. Anastasia Kitsay and her boyfriend, Maksym, were assaulted by three men following an altercation at a convenience store.

According to Karyna Kitsay, Anastasia’s mother, the trouble began when a man tried to cut the line at the checkout. When confronted, he responded with xenophobic insults, asking if she "thought she was in Ukraine" and calling her a "Ukrainian rag."

Shortly thereafter, the man returned accompanied by two other attackers. Maksym was punched and kicked beside the couple's car, while Anastasia was also struck during the assault. Both required hospitalization.
