A video from surveillance cameras appeared of how a taxi driver hit a courier on Bolshakov. The footage shows that the car tried to jump through the intersection when the traffic light was yellow. Noticing the electric bicycle leaving, the driver slammed on the brakes, skidded and threw him straight onto the delivery man.

We analyzed these shots with auto expert Oleg Taratukhin. He believes that this road tragedy is definitely the fault of the deceased cyclist. But whether the taxi driver who entered the intersection on a yellow light broke the rules is a moot point.

— The traffic rules say that if the driver cannot stop without using emergency braking, then he has the right to drive to yellow. Experts will look into whether he had the opportunity to slow down, says auto lawyer Oleg Taratukhin. — It seems to me that one of the fundamental problems for drivers is the flashing green light, which the rules say nothing about. And this is three whole seconds! During this time, the driver is able to begin to reduce speed and even stop. But more often they read this signal differently and begin to accelerate in order to pass.

As a result of the accident, the 32-year-old courier died on the spot before paramedics arrived.

“What traffic light signal the participants in the accident were following will be determined during the investigation conducted by the internal affairs bodies,” the traffic police of the Sverdlovsk region reported.
