A serious accident involving motorcycles resulted in three deaths and left two people seriously injured in the early hours of Tuesday , in the São José neighborhood, east of the city, around 2 am.

Two of the fatal victims were identified as Kaio Nascimento, 23, and Douglas Silva, 27. The third victim, a woman, has not yet been identified.

According to witnesses, the three had just left a carnival block and were on the same motorcycle, traveling at high speed along Avenida Cosme Ferreira. At a certain point, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which collided with a tree in the central reservation of the road. The impact was so strong that the occupants were thrown away from the motorcycle.

In addition to the fatal victims, two other people who were passing by on another motorcycle were also hit. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle fell to the ground and were seriously injured, bleeding heavily. Witnesses reported scenes of despair, with bodies lying on the road and a lot of commotion at the scene.

Douglas and Kaio died instantly at the time of the collision. The woman who was with them suffered a caved-in skull and suffered until she died at the scene. The injured were rescued by an ambulance that was called to the scene and taken to a hospital, while the bodies of the fatal victims were removed by the Legal Medical Institute (IML).

The accident shocked local residents and raised concerns about road safety, especially during the Carnival period, when accidents involving vehicles and drunk driving are common. Local authorities are expected to investigate the exact cause of the accident, including the possibility of excessive speed and the influence of alcohol.
