The NYPD says it is conducting an internal investigation after a video of an officer using a homophobic slur went viral on social media.

The video shows the officer in a marked police car. He can be heard using the slur while speaking through the announcement system.

News 12 reached out to the NYPD. A spokesperson provided the following statement:

“The department does not tolerate discrimination in any form and is committed to respectful work environments for our diverse workforce."
