A 36-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman died after touching the fence located at the back of a rural property in Aparecida do Taboado . The incident happened on Monday afternoon (16), when power cables broke and fell on the wire fence, leaving it energized.

According to the police report, at around 1:30 pm, a member of the Fire Department was called to control a fire that was spreading across the property.

Upon arriving at the site, he had the help of the owner and two other employees, who used extinguishers and a blower to fight the fire. During the work, the soldier saw a terrified man with his hands on his head and, next to him, a couple trapped in the wire fence.

The woman had a large cut on her neck and was on top of the boy, who was partially charred. The officer immediately warned everyone about the danger of the energized area. A team of electrical technicians from Energisa then arrived at the scene and de-energized the area.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire started after a eucalyptus branch fell onto the high-voltage power lines. Near the high-voltage poles, there were many eucalyptus trees planted and others that were being cut and stacked. There was also a fallen eucalyptus branch near a gate.

A man present at the property informed the Civil Police experts that he had sold the eucalyptus trees for R$85 per meter to a contractor and that he was cutting down the trees with an employee of that contractor moments before the fire. When asked if the branch had caused a short circuit, he did not respond clearly and only said that he saw the pasture on fire when he left the site.

As the information provided was unclear, the experts will return to the scene with a drone and specialized equipment for a more detailed analysis of the accident dynamics. A police report was filed with the Civil Police, where the case will be investigated.
