According to police, an unidentified person waved at Konkol while driving his vehicle near Nellis Boulevard and Bonanza Road, wrongfully mistaking him for a friend.

Konkol then began yelling at the man, pointing a firearm in his direction.

Officers were dispatched to the area and tried to stop Konkol's vehicle near Prince Lane and Charleston Blvd, but he refused, fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed through the residential area.

The vehicle was stopped near Sacramento Drive and Colusa Circle, where the suspect discharged his weapon one time at officers as they got out of their cars.

The three officers fired back at Konkol, who was still inside his vehicle. One of the officers fired four shots at Konkol's vehicle using a rifle.

Konkol then tried driving his car into the officers when he hit the front wall of a home. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

It was later revealed that Konkol had stolen the weapon he had from a motorcyclist about an hour before the shooting after he pulled up next to the man, reached out his window, and took it from his holster while they were both at a stoplight.

Konkol later ran over the man's motorcycle following a brief confrontation. The motorcyclist was uninjured.
