CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Two Mifflin Township Police Officers were shot Wednesday evening during a traffic stop and the suspect remains on the loose.

Mifflin Township is in Franklin County, northeast of Columbus.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin, the officers had pulled over a car near the intersection of Mecca Road and Perdue Avenue around 6:45 p.m.

While officers were talking to the driver, the passenger jumped out and began running, said Sheriff Baldwin.

The officers pursued him and Sheriff Baldwin said that is when the passenger turned and and fired his gun.

Both officers were transported to Grant Medical Center, Sheriff Baldwin said one officer is in critical condition and the other in stable condition.

Sheriff Baldwin identified the suspect as Daveonte Dixon, 21. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and camo pants.

The driver is not facing charges.

This is the second officer involved shooting in Ohio this week.
