An attempted lynching occurred in the municipality of Ecatepec, State of Mexico, against a young man whom the angry mob accused of having attempted to rape a minor.

A video circulating on social media shows a group of men kicking, hitting and harassing the suspect, who a woman, presumed to be his relative, tries to protect, but is also hit by the attacks of the "vigilantes."

The cries of “I did nothing” and “I am innocent” were not enough to calm the protesters, who, not content with the kicks and punches, stripped the accused naked and tortured him in a grotesque way: they raped him with a broomstick and then poured boiling water over his body.

In the clip, a police patrol can be seen at the scene, but no uniformed officers are seen trying to stop the people who were there from taking justice into their own hands.

The events occurred in Cuarta Cerrada de Las Flores, Block 8, in the Casa Reales neighborhood, but it is not clear whether they occurred during the early hours of this Monday, nor is there, at this time, any official information from the authorities.
