2 brothers are gouging out the eyes of their brother in front of their father over a family feud in Barishal’s Muladi Upazila. The incident took place at the house of Ashed Bepari of Sahebchar village in Nazirpur union of the upazila on Tuesday (Aug 26) night, said Sub-Inspector (SI) of Muladi Police Station Md Masud.



The victim was identified as Ripon Bepari, 36, son of Ashed Bepari. Ripon Bepari’s son Abdur Rahman said that his father demanded the return of Tk 35 lakh and 20 grammes of gold ornaments deposited with his uncle Rokon Bepari. Rokon and his younger brother Swapan Bepari then beat him and gouged out his eyes as per their father's instructions.



After the incident, locals rescued Ripon and admitted him to Ashukati Hospital in Gournadi. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. When the condition deteriorated further, he was admitted to the National Eye Institute of Dhaka. He is currently undergoing treatment there.
