Security cameras captured what police called an "ironic twist" to a crime: while multiple suspects robbed a check cashing business in Commerce City, someone else stole their getaway vehicle.

On the morning of Saturday, Dec. 16, three armed and masked people robbed the Hi Lo Check Cashing located in the 7200 block of Monaco Street, according to Commerce City Police. Police said no one was injured in the robbery.

Police shared surveillance footage that shows the suspects' vehicle — a black car with what appears to be magenta tape on a rear passenger window — moving around the parking lot outside the business before eventually stopping.

Several individuals are then seen getting off the car, presumably forgetting to lock it, before someone runs across the street, hops in and takes off.
