a car thief rammed the vehicle's owner into a brick wall and smashed the door of its hinges while making a frantic getaway.

Dramatic CCTV footage posted on social media seems to show a man in a dark tracksuit opening the door of a black SUV parked in the driveway of the home.

As he is about to drive away with the vehicle the owner runs towards the car and opens its door in a bid to catch the thug.

The video then shows the thief speedily reversing and ramming the owner - who is holding onto the car door - into a brick wall. The wall is left in pieces while the man appears to be left in pain with an injured arm.
