Newspaper :"On Wednesday afternoon (15), the Minas Gerais Military Fire Brigade (CBMMG) carried out a rescue operation following a fatal accident at the COPASA wastewater treatment plant, located in the municipality of Cape Verde, at Rodovia BR-146, km 422.The call was received at 5:58 p.m. and it was reported that an employee was missing following a tank explosion.An explosion of unknown cause ejected a steel plate, striking the worker and throwing him into the reactor. The body was submerged in a tank containing around 600 m3 of waste and was never seen again.Firefighters and the COPASA team emptied the tank to locate the victim. Experts from the Minas Gerais Civil Police (PCMG) took part in the operation.After around five hours of effort, a body was found in the tank. For the evacuation, firefighters used personal protective equipment, special suits, lighting and self-contained breathing systems.
