Camera footage of a car captured a confrontation between municipal civil guards in Capivari (SP) and robbers that ended with two injured GCMs , one of them in serious condition, this Thursday (27). Security teams followed a truck carrying a load of stolen cigarettes, valued at R$1 million.

The theft of the cargo took place at 5:40 am in Itu (SP), but the criminals went to Capivari, to a rural area close to the limits with Elias Fausto (SP) and Monte Mor (SP). The sugarcane plantation region has a history of use by robbers who are involved in cargo theft.

Knowing the history and observing the suspicious movement, three teams of guards, in three vehicles, followed the truck and another car that accompanied it. At one point, they were met with 556 and AK47 rifle fire, the corporation said.

In the footage (watch above) , you can hear bursts of gunfire and a guard shooting back. In another moment, an agent screams after being hit.

One of the agents, who is 50 years old, was hit on the head and was transferred to care at Santa Casa de Piracicaba. His condition was considered serious until Thursday night. The other GCM, who is 42 years old, was shot in the chest and is hospitalized in a private hospital in Capivari, but is not at risk of dying.

Also according to the Capivari Guard, three criminals were injured, but all managed to escape.
