February 23, 2026, a female civilian counselor was brutally attacked by a 34-year-old inmate at New York's Lakeview Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility in Brocton. The inmate repeatedly struck her face and head before an officer intervened. The assault has sparked debate over prison safety and staffing.
