Puntland Somalia april 8, 2025 In the Guryasamo-Calmiskaad area, the Puntland Anti-Terrorist Force (PATF) conducted an operation targeting terrorists hiding in the local mountains. During the operation, one man was eliminated and confirmed to be ISIS.

Terrorists are in Puntland mainly because it’s the perfect place to hide. The mountains there are super remote and hard to reach. On top of that, the local government is weak in those areas, so nobody really controls them properly.

Most of the fighters are from ISIS Somalia and some from Al-Shabaab. They also make money by smuggling stuff like weapons, people, and charcoal. And since a lot of young people in Puntland are poor and jobless, it’s easy for terrorists to recruit them.
