Anorexia is so awful.

An 18-year-old female subject was brought by ambulance to the emergency department during the night. When asked about her illness, she replied that she was experiencing acute abdominal pain and noted a sensation of abdominal fullness, admitting to having consumed a heavy meal. The subject was known to have a history of anorexia nervosa (BMI, 16; weight, 38 kg; height, 154 cm) and never underwent abdominal surgery. The physicians who performed the examination in the emergency department reported that the woman had soiled herself with feces. The woman experienced severe abdominal distension with dull percussion and mild abdominal tenderness in the epigastric region. No intestinal sounds were audible at the examination. The subject also stated that she suffered from intermittent nausea for several hours without actual vomiting.
